Cloak of Stars

An alien or ghost with a cloak made of stars looks out at you with melancholy eyes. Salt crystals stud the whole painting with their texture, and a blue-green duochrome paint gives it a radiant background glow.
I think my favorite thing about this painting is actually the little coral-fan of salt in the lower right corner. Strange, the things that charm you in abstract art.
What do you see when you gaze at these salt stars?
Cloak of Stars, 10″x8″ watercolor, duochrome watercolor, and salt on Arches cover black paper.
Above, you can see the sparkle of salt and watercolor against the velvety dark paper, the pyramid crystals studding the page. Below, you can see the piece in a frame, the iridescent paint glowing in the sunshine.
