Box of Hearts, a Cthulhu Valentine by Amy Crook

Box of Hearts, a Cthulhu Valentine by Amy Crook

When Cthulhu gives you a big box of hearts, he really gives you… hearts. Ew. They may be small and squishy, but he finally found a way to show his love!

The card delightfully frames the image with the words:

“Cthulhu wanted to give you his* hearts
*not all hearts dedicated to Cthulhu before acquisition”

You can give your love a Valentine this year from my Etsy Shop. Assuming they’re the sort to be wooed by, well, this.

Happy Jelly

Happy Jelly by Amy Crook

Happy Jelly by Amy Crook

I know I’ve painted jellyfish before, but I decided my Wall of Squid needed some variety in its betentacled cuteness. This guy is actually a bit more pale in real life than he looks here, soft subtle pale blue-greens that make him look delightfully translucent. He’s not any specific species of jelly, just a cute one, but I did steal the idea of his heart-shaped markings on top from the lovely moon jellyfish.

Above, you can see a slightly better version of the pale coloring, and of course his cute little heart markings and big shiny head. Below, the happy jelly is dancing in his frame with my iPhone and favorite jellyfish plushie.

quiet week has few artses

quiet week has few artses

I wasn’t feeling all that well last week, so this was a quiet week for posting art. Wednesday we met a whole bunch of monsters and Friday we saw some of their very specific brethren. Then Saturday we went birdwatching and I showed you a heron.

Today there’s a little doodle from someone’s Cthulhu Coloring Book. Will that be one tentacle or two?

Face not Facebook

When I made my Instagram missing you card art, I also wanted to make one for FB, so I got out my blandest blue marker and drew up this little character of indeterminate gender. If they never leave their desk or log out of Facebook, it doesn’t really matter anyway, does it?

You can get him on a greeting card here at Etsy, and send him to all those friends and relatives you “like” but would like to see in person, too.

I’m not sure I’d want this hung on my anything — tree, house, ankle… It looks unpleasantly gooey and bitey. Very bitey.

The holiday season meant coloring books, of course, and I even had time to sketch in most of them! This little cuppa’s got something a bit stronger in it than tea, eek.

Happy Sunday!
