Mermaid
I painted this piece a few years back when I was just learning how to use my watercolors, and trying to wean myself off the temptation to paint everything in pure pigments. She ended up with an abstract, stormy quality to her, the muted tones setting off the burst of glowing mystery in her hand. I imagine she’s out on a rock on a shoreline somewhere, drawing magic down from the clouds to sustain herself.

That is amazing. She’s very graceful and beautiful. I love the murkiness, which makes it seem more aquatic than most paintings of this subject.
I don’t remember ever seeing this one before today, but it’s now one of my favorites!
I’m not sure I ever showed it to you — I waver between liking and hating it… Which I suppose is what makes it a good candidate for daily art posting!
Well, I love it, so there.

Haha, good! I knew there was a reason I didn’t put it in the “too be recycled for packaging” pile.
