Sharpie Week: Shub-Niggurath

Shub-Niggurath Sharpie sketch by Amy Crook

Shub-Niggurath Sharpie sketch by Amy Crook

Sometimes called (or associated with, or… well, it is Lovecraft) the Black Goat of the Woods with a Thousand Young, Shub-Niggurath is one of Lovecraft’s more interesting creations. I admit I got a little bored after 3 young, but I’m sure the other 997 are around there somewhere. It’s a bit more loose than the rest of the Sharpie Week drawings, mainly because I didn’t feel like coloring it all in, but it’s sketch Saturday so I figure I can get away with it. This is just a preliminary weeble, anyway, though there aren’t really any descriptions to go on. I just looked up a black goat and tried to make it creepy, weeble-y, and cute. I mean, look at those floppy ears!

Sharpie Week: Jack Skellington

Jack Skellington Sharpie sketch by Amy Crook

This one’s all my doing! I was contemplating things I love but don’t draw much, and Nightmare Before Christmas is right at the top of that list. Jack’s looking a bit guilty because he thinks he ought to give Santa’s hat back, but he just feels so dapper in it!

John's Bath Sharpie sketch by Amy Crook

John’s Bath Sharpie sketch by Amy Crook

When I was at a loss for what else to draw for this week, a friend of mine said “John! In the bath!” And then I thought, no, no, that’s not… wait, I could give him a duckie in a jumper. And then I really had to do it. So, here it is. With a duckie in a warm woolen sweater. Because I could.

Another request from a friend, she wanted a kiss under a tree. I have to admit, it’s much more fun drawing kisses when you don’t have to get all worried about the exact placement of lips and noses and chins!

Sherlock meets Octopus sharpie sketch by Amy Crook

Sharpie week continues! It was pointed out that I ought to keep to my Tentacle Tuesday tradition, and Sherlock volunteered to help. This one is exceptionally silly, I blame the fever.

Sharpie Week: Lobster Pot Pie

Lobster Pot Pie sharpie sketch by Amy Crook

Allergy season is over, and so, I have a head cold! Normally I would spend Sunday scheduling art posts and guaranteeing you all a week of awesomeness, but this week I’m sick and Photoshop and I aren’t speaking over color matching differences. So, my solution? You get a week of Sharpie Marker doodles.

Now, I am running a fever, so I’m not silly enough to do these without a little bit of penciling, but overall I don’t think I spent more than 15 minutes on any of them from start to finish.

If you’re wondering about the subject matter, you can blame my friends for that — I asked them what to draw and they made suggestions. Though the bite I had of my friend’s lobster pot pie on Saturday night was very tasty, so I suppose it does deserve to be immortalized.

Bottom by Amy Crook

Bottom by Amy Crook, $69

Just a little experiment with pen and ink and watercolor that I think turned out rather well. I found someone’s Deviantart account full of reference photos and whipped this up in an afternoon, though I will admit having the hands, feet and face all hidden made it 1000% easier to draw. And the view while I was working was quite lovely, heh.

Bottom, 5″x7″ pen and ink and watercolor on paper, $69 with free shipping.
