For Words Wednsday this week, we have a very popular and, I think, applicable quote. I decided I wanted more beauty (and spirals!) in my world, so I finally stopped pining after the art I wanted to make and started making art instead.

I’m still working on some of the other changes, like seeing the complexity hiding in seemingly simple issues, but those can be a lot harder. Still, I think this bookmark would make an excellent reminder for someone wanting to see a change in their lives, that the only person who can move your life towards a better one is you.

Be the Change Bookmark, 8″x1.5″ mixed media on paper, nfs (sold).

Above, spirals! Below, the bookmark on my awesome free hardcover graphic novel from Free Comic Book Day this year. Another good reminder that art and words don’t have to be exclusive.

This little Sharpie doodle adorned some Sherlock cards off to their new home, though by now I’ve already forgotten whose package he was on! His chin is pretty manly here, heh, but that’s how it goes when you’re writing with permanent marker on wobbly plastic.

Hope you’re having a great weekend!

Flour Sack Tentacles

Sharpie Tentacles on a Flour Sack Dish Towel by Amy Crook

Sharpie Tentacles on a Flour Sack Dish Towel by Amy Crook

Bonus tentacles for Friday!

It should come as no surprise to anyone that I have fabric Sharpies as well as the regular kind. I bought them a few months ago, and I’ve finally acquired a package of the flour sack dish towels I like for decorating. This one’s been washed but not, obviously, ironed, and then decorated with pink and purple tentacles.

The tentacles are positioned so that they’re in the center if you fold the towel into thirds, and lay it over a towel bar, but most of the towel is still pristine for actually drying your dishes. It’s 28″ square, which is actually a bit bigger than the towels I’m used to, and the Sharpie says machine wash cold, hang dry, but I haven’t re-washed this one yet to test it.

I haven’t decided how much I’ll list these for on Etsy yet, I have seven to experiment with, but if you would like one as a donation gift instead of a Shrinky Dink, just let me know.

Speaking of which, thank you to all the lovely people who have donated or bought something from Etsy so far! I’m not going to name you darlings since I haven’t asked if I could, but just know that I really, really appreciate every one of you.

This little dude was the last thing I decided on for Sharpie Week, by having my houseguest draw a card from my Medieval Scapini Tarot deck. Then I looked at the intricate, complex drawing and doodled up something far less impressive in my wee sketchbook. King of Cups is the patron of artists, though, so I feel he won’t mind the license.

Twitter has once again given us our theme for the day, this time from @EmperorzNou whose presence there is partially my fault anyway. *cough* He asked for a mutant turtle perhaps in his teens of the ninja variety, or something like that, and thus you have an inexpertly weeble-ified turtle with obligatory pizza.

Mmm, pizza.

For Friday the 13th, we have @SFEtsy‘s amusing Twitter suggestion, “something sinister that smells like the black abyss that is Sharpie yet with polka dot galoshes.” Spooky, yet adorable.

Happy Friday the 13th, and lucky weekend!

Sharpie Zombie Vampire Bunny (of Doom)

This particular Easter horror sticks around to steal your candy and suck all the goo out of Cadbury Creme Eggs. He was suggested by @xquitz on Twitter, when I asked for ideas. I’m particularly fond of his obnoxious color scheme, and the bit of creme dripping out of his gaping maw.
