Sunday Round-Up & Sitting Guy Sketch

this past week’s art
It’s Sunday once again! If you missed some of this week’s posts, on Monday I had a ghostly swirly moon, on Tuesday our tentacles were very sad and apologetic, and on Wednesday we looked at the whole alphabet all together. Thursday revisited the idea of heraldry, Friday revisited Instagram, and on Saturday the Ninth Doctor visited us. It was a week chock-full of new cards for my Etsy shop, and new art for you to enjoy, whee.
And, of course, there’s a little sketch for you today. I was playing with shading with my new Neutral Grey Copic markers, which give me another choice from the warm and cool greys I’ve been using.

Fantastic, Doctor Who art by Amy Crook
After drawing Ten and Eleven, I couldn’t resist adding the short-lived Ninth Doctor to the mix. Although I’ve hardly seen any of the classic Doctor Who, I’ve really enjoyed the new series, though I always seem to prefer whichever doctor was last for about a series and a half before I become really fond of the current doctor.
Of course, I also made a greeting card of the Ninth Doctor, with your choice of messages inside.

Above, you can see the Doctor’s wry grin and slouching posture. Below, he’s in a frame, hanging out with my iPhone for scale.

Bilbo & Smaug Bookmark 1 by Amy Crook
This is the other bookmark that someone already claimed, a wee tiny Hobbit looking quite distressed indeed to be confronted with a dragon. Smaug, on the other hand, looks highly amused by his discovery. I’m definitely going to do some more art for The Hobbit as well, I want to draw some dwarves.
Things will be back to normal tomorrow with another moon for Monday, so I hope you enjoyed this Bookmark Week and picked up one for yourself or a friend!

Weeping Angel

by Amy Crook
This Weeping Angel crept into someone’s heart when they got my newsletter last week, and so it’s already been snapped up. But never fear, I’m sure I’ll draw another of these creepy creatures again soon, and I’ve already got some more Doctor Who art in the pipeline.
Just remember, don’t look away. Don’t even blink.

Down With Pollen, self portrait with kitty by Amy Crook
This pretty much sums up my week, as inspired by one of the wonderful ladies in my Type B Mastermind Group. Perhaps next week the trees will give me a bit of a break to get better caught up with… everything. So much everything.

“I hope the Dwarves find some shelter before those Stone Giants really get going.”
Storm, The Hobbit fan art by Amy Crook
My tiny fandom obsession continues! The mountains dried with lovely blue-violet swirls in their depths, and now there’s Gandalf, contemplating the oncoming storm as he starts to head into the Misty Mountains after Thorin et al. He’s done all in shades of grey as is appropriate, with Glamdring at his side and his staff in hand. Plus the pointy hat, of course.

Above, you can see a close-up of Gandalf with the colors tweaked to help bring out his eyes, er, details. Below, you can see it snugly resting in an 8″x8″ frame, waiting to find a new home.

Harry Dresden bookmark
by Amy Crook
After I posted the other Dresden bookmark I’d done as a gift for a friend, one of my regular patrons gave me puppy eyes asking to do one for her, too. I’m working my way up to another Bookmark Week, so I drew this up for her the other day. It’s already sold, but the ones I post in a few weeks will be available to those without puppy-eye privileges.
If you want to be first on the list to see which ones are coming out, you can join my mailing list here.

Dresden Files bookmark, detail, by Amy Crook
Above, you can see a close-up of Dresden’s sheepish little face, like, “Oh hey didn’t see you there.” Below, you can see him hanging out with my copy of Cold Days.
