Skeleton Bookmark
Friday, November 30th, 2012
Thank goodness it’s Friday! Normally this sketchy little dude would go on Sunday, but this time I had two bookmarks sell before writing the posts, so I thought I’d save those for the weekend. That’s right, this is the last of the bookmarks for the week you can actually buy! Or you can click here to see all the available bookmarks in one easy spot.
Skeleton Bookmark, 1″x4.5″ pencil on paper.
Above you can see his grinning face up close and personal. Below, he’s hanging out on a book to show you just how slender a skeleton can be, when he’s a bookmark, anyway.

Pooh and Piglet Hugging sketch
Sunday, October 14th, 2012
Winnie the Pooh was published on this date in 1926. Let’s hope they’re still around in another eighty-mumble* years!
*Pooh can’t count that high, sorry.

Flying Eyeball sketch
Sunday, September 2nd, 2012
Another batch of Cthulhu Coloring Books have mysteriously acquired sketches in their front covers, and here’s the first of several. I particularly like the way the goo is sliding down off the surface of the eyeball, as though it’s just risen up out of a vat of its brethren, ready to do its master’s bidding.
…maybe that’s just me.

E is for Emboss
Thursday, August 9th, 2012
I did so much measuring and line-drawing for my E I decided to leave in the pencil lines as a sort of underpainting, a decorative structure underlying the letter. Though it’s hard to see in the scan, the whole square is embossed, with gold coloring the embossed edges as well as providing the decoration on an otherwise plain capital. The two greens remind me of marble or malachite, but the gold filigree design really elevates the whole thing to the realm of beauty.
E is for Emboss, 5″x5″ pencil, pen & ink, Japanese watercolor and glitter gel pen on paper.
Above, you can see the raised edges and shining gold both on the edge itself and in the filigree decoration. Below, I’ve put the piece in a frame with B is for Blackletter. It spells BE! Yes, I’m a dork. You knew that.

Dr. Molly Hooper sketch
Sunday, August 5th, 2012
The put-upon coroner from BBC’s Sherlock, Molly is going to join Mrs. Hudson in death in my next set of Baker Street Tinies. I did this little sketch of her character design to prepare, trying to capture her nervous smile, lab coat, and general adorableness.
Enjoy your Sunday, and hope you don’t meet Molly anytime soon.

Mrs. Hudson Sketch
Sunday, July 29th, 2012
I figured it was time to design some of the girls from Sherlock as stick people, so I’ve started with the redoubtable Mrs. Hudson. I’ll be doing Molly Hooper next, and then perhaps they’ll make their way to the Baker Street Tinies, if I can figure out a good way to work them in.

Onward, Minion!
Sunday, July 15th, 2012
Fans of ICHC might recognize the octopus in this sketch, though I decided he’d be more amusing atop his minion’s head than a mere hand. His human servant is, of course, thrilled by this.
