lots of squid and other things and squid

lots of squid and other things and squid

What a week! Too much happening in the world that sucks. But here, there was art! Monday‘s annoyed hedgie sort of set the tone, unfortunately, and Tuesday a giant squid said rawr and ate a boat. Wednesday I showed you my Wall of Squid, with bonus guest Octopi. Thursday Sherlock totally failed to apologize, and Friday some crows flew past the moon in the dull lavender gloaming.

For your traditional Sunday Sketch, I have a nervous Watson, who wishes to remain unbent, unmutilated, and otherwise in good shape as he flies across the country to deliver a birthday card.

a week of fancy art and cartoons

a week of fancy art and cartoons

It was a busy week! Monday the Lucky Squid wished you all the best, and Tuesday there were more tentacles. Wednesday I showed off the book that had my art on the cover. Friday John wished you might get well, and Saturday we wished you might at least get off Facebook for a minute.

This little sketch is courtesy of my big package of art, prints & cards that went to my wonderful patron in another time zone, which will hopefully arrive very soon indeed. You can see that I’m not nearly as neat when I don’t sketch before I ink, hah.

The Death of Me, Too, a Sherlock print by Amy Crook

The Death of Me, Too, a Sherlock print by Amy Crook

This week was all of a piece, with The Death of Me, Too, the comic sequel to The Death of Me. You can read them both from the start at this tag, which even puts them in the right order for you.

I pulled out my Sharpie to sketch something I vaguely saw in the shapes of something I was staring blankly at during my ‘blink and yawn’ phase this morning, so enjoy this penguin, who is feeling about as awake and full of meh as I am. My hair looks better, though.

Sunday Round-Up & Face Sketch

a lot of cartoons and some skulls, like I do

a lot of cartoons and some skulls, like I do

A cheery assortment of smiles and tentacles in this week’s art, starting with Bilbo having tea on Monday. Tuesday brought Doctor Who, and Thursday was a whole wallpaper pattern made of grinning skulls. Friday there was a very cute gift of squid, and on Saturday a pair of adorable squid tied the knot.

And, of course, I have a wee sketch for you! This face came out very narrow indeed, and decidedly skewed to one side, but I rather like him anyway. I really do need to get some new large brush pens, though, mine are both starting to dry up, alas, either that or just work with brush & ink and skip the pen bit entirely.

skulls and fishies and 'toons, oh, my!

skulls and fishies and ‘toons, oh, my!

Another week of art has gone by like a flash! Monday I gave you whimsical skulls, and Tuesday a spooky fish skeleton. Wednesday we revisited the ocean depths with sea creatures galore. Thursday we got a dwarf’s view of birthdays, and Friday brought us Sherlock’s views on the subject. Saturday Sherlock was very grumpy indeed — he did not enjoy the party, apparently.

Below, we have a little brush-pen sketch of the tree outside my window, which just got a nice trim to clear away the dead branches and give Pod a better view of the crows that visit him.

art from the previous week, mostly cartoons because cartoons rule

art from the previous week, mostly cartoons because cartoons rule

Another week, another round-up! Monday we visited Thorin and Bilbo and were reminded that no one fights like Thorin, douses lights… Or maybe I just gave you all an earworm. Tuesday was Red 3, with all its complex and interesting interplays of three different shades of red and the soft black paper as well. Wednesday we visited the color yellow in many of the pieces from my previous work. Thursday‘s otterly adorkable art is now a print, by request. Friday the Devil made us do it, and on Saturday there was more Brothers Holmes with two color bonus comics.

And of course since it’s Sunday there’s a sketch, which was a wee study I did for Tuesday’s art. Heeere fishy fishy fishy…

this past week's art

this past week’s art

It’s Sunday once again! If you missed some of this week’s posts, on Monday I had a ghostly swirly moon, on Tuesday our tentacles were very sad and apologetic, and on Wednesday we looked at the whole alphabet all together. Thursday revisited the idea of heraldry, Friday revisited Instagram, and on Saturday the Ninth Doctor visited us. It was a week chock-full of new cards for my Etsy shop, and new art for you to enjoy, whee.

And, of course, there’s a little sketch for you today. I was playing with shading with my new Neutral Grey Copic markers, which give me another choice from the warm and cool greys I’ve been using.
