Whimsical Doldrums
Thursday, August 2nd, 2018
This particular city skyline has a very specific sort of aesthetic, grim yet filled with delight. From the curlicue clouds to the building that’s a cat, there’s whimsy to go along with the gloom.
The painting is a true panorama, covering a swathe of buildings huddled close against the rain, their outlines loose and details smudged with rainfall.
Where would this whimsical oddity fit into your life?
Above, you can see a close-up of some of the buildings in all their grimly delightful glory. Below, this panoramic piece spans the whole writing desk, even without a frame to contain it.

Culture

Bold splashes of burnt orange spark through a field of purples, from a soft mineral lavender to a deep violet black. A loose, liquid boundary almost contains the color like a frame, but there’s splashes all around, joyfully bursting free of the confines of geometry.
This is a gorgeous abstract, bright and warm without being too obnoxious, and would go elegantly in any room.
Above, you can see the delicate lace formed as the colors mix and blend, rust to peach, purple to paper white. Below, the culture waits behind glass to be examined, appreciated, and enjoyed.

Beneath
Sunday, June 3rd, 2018
Humanity has explored such a small percentage of the oceans, and we can comfortably swim or surf or sail on just the thinnest sliver of surface. We never know what lies just beneath those waves, waiting patiently for their time to come.
This monster with its blank, shining eye and teeth taller than a mast is there below the waves that propel this surfer just over its head.
But not necessarily out of its reach.
Above, you can see the sharp teeth and dead, pearlescent eye of the creature up close. Below, the monster is hiding in its frame, lying in wait for some unfathomable cue to act.

Kelp 2
Sunday, April 8th, 2018
Shining fronds in beautiful blue-green rise up through the charcoal depths of this lightfast paper, with the occasional horizontal detour into shelf-like protrusions.
Another installment in the Pathways series, this painting takes a simple monochrome palette and breaks it into glittering particles. Each little piece of color seems to shine with its own shade of blue, green, or silver, shifting oh-so-subtly as it moves through the light.
Where do you need something beautiful to catch the light in your life?
Above, you can see the subtle sparkle of mica-laden paints and the beautiful rivulets of thick paint and dancing void. Below, the painting is sitting in a frame, a waving undersea frond trapped in its own little aquarium.

Vestiges
Tuesday, April 3rd, 2018
A vivid ultramarine blue ocean, with hints of purple and turquoise both. This ocean is alien and strange, with the many-eyed whale floating along in the background, and the shattered remains of some long-lost civilization in the fore.
Whatever was once here, the vestiges that were left have their own kind of beauty.
Above, you can see the cracked dome up close, with our whale peeking in as it glides by in the distance. Below, the painting is in a temporary frame, waiting to adorn your home with its peculiar beauty.

Me Three
Wednesday, March 7th, 2018
A horizon at the edge of day and night. Twisted skeletons of winter trees. Birds flying in the background.
It’s a bit on the nose to call this typical example of my oeuvre “Me Three,” but sometimes the titles pick you.
The sky is a beautiful clear blue shading to the gold of sunrise, and the clouds float above with a mix of golden light and purple shadows. Trees full of character show just a touch of texture in the gleam of morning. A trio of long-necked birds make their way through the morning air.
Above, you can see the twisty trees, wispy clouds, and flappy birds. Below, the painting is tucked into a frame, just waiting to find its home with you.
