Say Thanks, John, parody Sherlock comic by Amy Crook

Say Thanks, John,
parody Sherlock comic by Amy Crook

Another Saturday, another card! I decided I needed a trio of Sherlock thank-you cards, so you’ll see another next week just to round out the set. This time it’s John who’s rather begrudging the social niceties, which means it’s probably all Sherlock’s fault, somehow.

Say Thanks, John, 5″x7″ pen & ink and Copic marker on paper, nfs (sold).

Above, you can see a close-up of the rather detailed cables on John’s sweater, and his grumpy pose. Below, you can see it in a frame, hanging out with a skull, a hedgehog, and my iPhone. And you thought you kept weird company.

PS – If it ever frustrates you that certain sorts of fan art are always sold when they go up, you can always commission your own.

He Means He Forgot, a Sherlock fan cartoon by Amy Crook

He Means He Forgot,
a Sherlock fan cartoon by Amy Crook

I’m slowly continuing to flesh out my actual purpose-made greeting cards, and this time it’s John who’s got belated birthday wishes for you. He’s already embarrassed to be bringing the card so late, and then of course Sherlock has to pipe up with his own two cents.

He Means He Forgot, 5″x7″ pen & ink and Copic marker on paper, nfs (sold). Get them on a card instead!

Gee, Thanks, a Sherlock comic by Amy Crook

Gee, Thanks, a Sherlock comic by Amy Crook

Everyone in a certain corner of the internet knows that John Watson and this horrible kitten sweater were meant for each other, creepy staring blue doll eyes and all. Sherlock, on the other hand, disagrees. But then, he would.

Gee, Thanks, 5″x7″ pen & ink and Copic marker on paper, nfs (sold). But you can get them on a thank you card at Etsy!

No Resemblance, a Spock & Sherlock comic by Amy Crook

No Resemblance, a Spock & Sherlock comic
by Amy Crook

This little comic was suggested to me on Twitter back in November, and it’s taken me this long to get around to drawing it. The two tall, slender, logical, dark-haired men don’t see any resemblance, but I’m guessing you do.

Random artist trivia: normally I’m very good at spelling, but I have some sort of mental block with the a in “resemblance,” and keep spelling it with all ‘e’s and having to fix it, including in the pencils for the comic. Good thing I decided to spell check myself!

No Resemblance, 5″x7″ pen & ink and Copic marker on paper, nfs (sold).

Above, you can see how I’ve given them very similar features, down to the hair color and eyebrow lift. Below, I’ve tucked them into a frame with Sherlock’s skull, which I’m sure Spock would find fascinating.

Tea With Dori, fan art for The Hobbit by Amy Crook

Tea With Dori, fan art for The Hobbit by Amy Crook

It’s another dwarf! Yes, I have every intention of drawing all 13 of them, eventually. Dori took approximately forever with his fancy hair and beard and all that, but I’m happy with the results. And of course, there’s a doily.

GrumpySherlock

GrumpySherlock cartoon by Amy Crook

GrumpySherlock cartoon by Amy Crook

I had a day last week when I was kept awake past my bedtime by noisy people, and awakened far before my usual time by different noisy people, and spent the entire day feeling very grumpy indeed. So, I cheered myself up with this — note the Grumpycat-like shading around his eyes and mouth, especially.

GrumpySherlock, 5″x7″ pen & ink and Copic marker on paper, nfs (sold). But Grumpy Sherlock can now grace your gifts with these very cranky tags.

Sherlock Birthday

Sherlock Birthday cartoon by Amy Crook

“The fact of your birth isn’t so much cause for celebration as a biological coincidence –“
“He means, ‘Happy Birthday.'”
Sherlock Birthday cartoon by Amy Crook

Yes, it’s birthday card time here on my art table — there’s a Doctor Who one coming up next week, too. In this case I drew Sherlock in his infamous purple shirt, John in his cute oatmeal sweater, and John’s elbow not quite making it into Sherlock’s ribs to shut him up. I can just feel John gritting his teeth as he tries to cover for Sherlock’s faux pas (again).

Sherlock Birthday, 5″x7″ pen & ink and Copic marker on paper, nfs (sold), but you can buy a birthday card on Etsy.
