Enterprise, a Star Trek drawing by Amy Crook

Enterprise, a Star Trek drawing by Amy Crook

After drawing Kirk, Spock, and McCoy, I decided the next logical (heh) piece would be the Enterprise herself. I kept to the warm colors of the models from Star Trek: The Original Series instead of the colder versions you sometimes see in cgi versions, and I love how it looks floating in a sea of stars, phasers shooting off at some unknown enemy.

You can get the Enterprise and her three main men as a bookmark set in my Etsy shop.

Prepositioning, an Inception comic by Amy Crook

Prepositioning, an Inception comic by Amy Crook

Sometimes I get dragged into a fandom and it’s instant love, but sometimes a friend will poke and prod and gently tug me toward a fandom for a long, long time before something sticks.

I finally watched Inception for the first time this year, and had to watch it a second time focusing on everything but the main plot to really enjoy it. The setting and secondary characters, however, are an utter delight, which is how we come to this — a typo turned into a terrible pick-up line.

…And Prosper

...And Prosper, Star Trek parody art by Amy Crook

…And Prosper, Star Trek parody art by Amy Crook

I’m not certain what would cause Spock to want to give his Captain bunny ears with his Live Long and Prosper hand sign, but I’m pretty sure Kirk deserved it. Bones is not impressed, but Bones never is.

MI6 Tinies: J is for James

MI6 Tinies: J is for James by Amy Crook

MI6 Tinies: J is for James by Amy Crook

As promised, here’s the second of my MI6 Tinies. James is falling into the same trap as “Z is for Zillah,” though he’s at least using proper martini glasses instead of a teapot for his gin. Gorey’s ubiquitous black doll also makes a guest appearance, spreading its ill omen along with the display of finer spirits.

These two are a commission, but you can acquire them printed on a lovely 2-card set at my Etsy shop.

Q is for Quartermaster

MI6 Tinies: Q is for Quartermaster by Amy Crook

MI6 Tinies: Q is for Quartermaster by Amy Crook

The wonderful patron who commissioned most of my Baker Street Tinies knitted me the most amazing shawl, and one of the things she requested in trade for it was a pair of MI6 Tinies.

This time I’ve crossed the world of James Bond over with Edward Gorey’s Gashlycrumb Tinies. The new Q from Skyfall appears in a parody of “Y is for Yorick” except instead of a column of stone it’s a tall tower of servers teetering and about to fall on his head.

Don’t worry, 007 will get his on Wednesday! These two are a commission, but you can acquire them printed on a lovely 2-card set at my Etsy shop.

Daron, Colin, and Ziggy

Daron, Colin, and Ziggy by Amy Crook

Daron, Colin, and Ziggy by Amy Crook

Daron’s Guitar Chronicles is continuing its summer of fanworks, and I’m easily led, so when someone asked me to draw Colin I couldn’t resist giving him a rock star on each arm. I love how this really shows how short Daron and Ziggy are, but my favorite detail is the little hole in Ziggy’s fishnet shirt, though Daron’s adorable blush is a close second.

The original should show up in the Floating Gallery soon, or you can get these cuties on a card in my Etsy shop.

Manners Maketh Man

Manners Maketh Man, Kingsman parody art by Amy Crook

Manners Maketh Man, Kingsman parody art by Amy Crook

After a token struggle, I have been happily dragged into fangirling Kingsman:the Secret Service. I’m a sucker for a posh man in a sharp suit, I guess, though Eggsy cleans up all right, too. I had fun drawing them together, wee Eggsy looking quite small next to Galahad’s taller form but both of them rather handsome in their bespoke suits.*

And, of course, they’re saying some of my favourite lines from the show. “Manners Maketh Man,” and “Yes, Harry.” Cheeky brat.
