Love to Dance, a Sherlock comic by Amy Crook

Love to Dance, a Sherlock comic by Amy Crook

Another image that can be interpreted multiple ways, we see Sherlock doing his excitable pirouette for an appreciative John. There’s no words, allowing the viewer to write their own story.

You can use this card for a Valentine, wedding, or anniversary! Pick one up here at my Etsy shop.

Bead & Braid, a Hobbit comic by Amy Crook

Bead & Braid, a Hobbit comic by Amy Crook

For Wednesday we have an adorable moment that needs no words, with Thorin braiding Bilbo’s hair while Bilbo holds a suspiciously dwarven bead to go in it. This is one of those simple images that can be as much about friendship as anything else.

You can pick up this card for your favorite dwarf or hobbit here in my Etsy shop.

Timeless Love, a Doctor Who comic by Amy Crook

Timeless Love, a Doctor Who comic by Amy Crook

Second in our Valentine week, it’s Doctor Who! The Tenth Doctor stands in front of a glowingly mysterious halo of Circular Gallifreyan.* Above him it says, “Gallifreyan has 22 tenses, and I love you in every one.”

You can pick up this lovely card in my Etsy shop, and give it to some one who adores the Doctor, and hopefully you as well. Or just keep it for yourself and imagine David Tennant’s voice when you look at it. Whatever.

Missing You, a Sherlock comic by Amy Crook

Missing You, a Sherlock comic by Amy Crook

It’s Valentine week here on the blog, because you may not like it but Valentine’s Day is less than a month away, and I’ve got a bunch of new cards in the shop that are good for friends, significant others, and all manner of loved ones. Well, nerdy loved ones, anyway.

Here we have Sherlock sitting in his chair, thinking so hard he’s whited out the world around him with observations. His thought bubble says, “Even when I don’t notice you’ve gone, I still miss you.” You can get this card for someone who loves you back even with all your quirks in my Etsy shop.

Plant This Acorn

Plant This Acorn by Amy Crook

Plant This Acorn by Amy Crook

Speaking of adventures and inspiration, this piece was inspired by The Hobbit movies, especially the newest one, though the quote is my own.

I would plant this acorn in your name, but I’d rather grow old with you.

I went for simplicity in this painting, layering glazes in shades of brown, gold, and a little red in the leaf, a little green in the body of the acorn. The writing is a version of my own handwriting. It is meant to evoke both nature and sentiment, a connection to the earth and trees but most of all a connection to a loved one.

Above, you can see the acorn with its little touches of green in the brown, against the red-brown of the oak leaf. Below, I’ve slipped the piece into a warm wooden frame, all ready for its new home.

Yule Gifts, a Hobbit parody comic by Amy Crook

Yule Gifts, a Hobbit parody comic by Amy Crook

Thorin has a beautifully-wrought golden lantern in the shape of an apple for his Burglar for Yule. Bilbo has made a very hobbity wreath of fresh evergreens for the King Under the Mountain.

They both have the cutest blushes from knowing that the other person thought of them for the winter holidays.

You can send this adorable holiday card and spread the yuletide cheer, just pick one up at my Etsy shop!

Snowflakes, a Sherlock parody comic by Amy Crook

Snowflakes, a Sherlock parody comic by Amy Crook

John and Sherlock agreed to a festive winter evening making snowflakes. Unfortunately, they have very different ideas about how to go about that particular activity.

Whose do you think will win out?*

Snowflakes, 7″x5″ pen & ink and Copic marker on paper. Get the cheerful holiday card on Etsy!
