Floating Nap, dorky fan art by Amy Crook

Floating Nap, dorky fan art by Amy Crook

Another week, another piece of adorable otter/hedgehog art. I imagine this is the missing bit between the first two pieces, after the hedgehog got tired of swimming but before they dried off and curled up in their scarves to nap.

I imagine this because I’m a big dorky fangirl, and I enjoy it.

Floating Nap, 7″x5″ pen & ink and Copic markers on paper, nfs (commission).

Baker Street Crest

Baker Street Crest by Amy Crook

Baker Street Crest by Amy Crook

Just when you thought it was safe to go back to the alphabet, I’ve done another B! I took the design for H is for Heraldry, with all its Sherlock-centric themes, and turned it into a B for 221B Baker Street. There’s actually a lot of John Watson in this crest, almost more so than Sherlock Holmes, with the generosity, loyalty, and martial readiness. Sherlock is in there, too, though, both of them rampant and ready to defend their little kingdom.

I decided not to bling up the gold in this one, sticking to a nice bright, warm yellow to represent the Or field on the shield. This also makes them easier to reproduce, so I’ve got note cards for sale on Etsy with the crest, so you can send your next piece of snail mail in style.

Above, you can see the detail on the cheerful hedgehog and rather snooty otter. Below, I’ve put it in a frame and you can see how the original stacks up next to my iPhone.

Floating Along, dorky fan art by Amy Crook

Floating Along, dorky fan art by Amy Crook

If you’re on Tumblr or in my brain you’ll understand completely when I say this is actually Harry Potter/Sherlock crossover fan art with Animagus forms.

If you’re not, then look at the adorable otter and hedgehog. They’re floating! They’re friends!

There is, of course, the nap after to be considered as well. Those involved in the aforementioned fannish telepathy will know exactly which scarf is whose and why.

Halloweentown Holmes

Halloweentown Holmes by Amy Crook

Halloweentown Holmes by Amy Crook

I saw someone posting about Sherlock and Mycroft being originally from Halloweentown in the Nightmare Before Christmas universe, with an older, skeletal brother Sherrinford. I couldn’t resist drawing it up with just a bit of my own silly style added in!

Sherlock’s even dead. Well, undead. Well, you know, Halloweentown. I just couldn’t resist the urge to draw them, given how much my cartooning style owes to Jack Skellington. Sherrinford’s even got a bat for his cravat.

Sherlock Gelaskin iPhone Hardcase, art by Amy Crook

Sherlock Gelaskin iPhone Hardcase, art by Amy Crook

As much as I adore my beloved Gelaskin stickers, my iPhone has been dropped enough times that I really needed a bit more protection. Gelaskin has again come to the rescue with my lovely custom hardcase, featuring my drawing of Sherlock in all his glorious ennui. There’s even a secret hedgehog.

Sherlock Bookmarks, set of 4

4 Sherlock bookmarks by Amy Crook

4 Sherlock bookmarks by Amy Crook

The lovely person that bought this John Watson bookmark wanted a whole set of the four lads from the show, and here’s the results! I fortunately have a bunch of these identical paper scraps from cutting down the paper for the alphabet, so it was easy to do four that matched. John and Lestrade are on cool grey backgrounds with warm grey skin, and the Holmeses are all warm greys except for their clothing. Everyone got a bit of personality to them, John in his stripey jumper with the skull art from the show, Sherlock with his violin, Lestrade with his phone at a crime scene and Mycroft with his brolly and wallpaper.

Boring Without You

Bored Without You, Sherlock parody art by Amy Crook

Bored Without You, Sherlock parody art by Amy Crook

No one can do ennui quite like Sherlock, and today’s Valentine is no exception. Perfect for those apart from their beloveds, I even wrote a little poem to go with it:

“Blood spatter’s red,
Corpse lips are blue,
But murders are boring
When I’m without you.”

The wallpaper was drawn by hand on a light table, using a printout of the original pattern for reference, so each little scribbled motif is just a bit different from the rest. Sherlock’s got his stuffed hedgehog to keep him company, but it’s just not the same as having John there with him.

Boring Without You, 5″x7″ pen & ink and Copic markers on paper, original nfs (sold).
