Sherlock bookmark by Amy Crook
This little scrap of paper is nice thick Arches cover black, and should stand up to being used as a bookmark, though I suspect the soft edges will get a bit softer over time. Basically I was tearing some 5″x5″ squares and I had this little 1″ strip left so I decided to draw a contemplative Sherlock.

Watson pen sketch by Amy Crook
Just a little pen-and-ink portrait — I’m practicing a few things about observation and not being able to erase. I did a little tiny bit of tinkering in Photoshop, I will admit, but in the end it only sort of looks like the character. Which, really, given that I’ve got little practice doing portraits or working in pen-and-ink, is pretty much okay.
Maybe the next one will be more awesome.

Sketch Sale Revisited

Sale done! Thank you to everyone who participated and made it a success.
After a week, I’ve sold a few sketches and, as is the way of things when there’s pens and paper out ready to be used, made a few more. The sale will go on for one more week, until the end of May. If you’d like to get your very own wee little sketch from me in the mail, there’s still a bit of time.

Sherlock – Oh!

Sherlock Oh! by Amy Crook
I offered sketches to people the other day on my Twitter, and one of my friends asked for something with the dear Mr. Holmes from BBC’s Sherlock series. I decided to draw him having one of his epiphanies, mainly because I find drawing his coat to be great fun. He’s not quite as attenuated as he is in other cartoons I’ve done of him, which is probably for the better — he’s only six feet tall, after all, not exactly Jack Skellington, despite the occasional resemblance.
