Above, you can see the edges of vivid purple and dusky blue on the big splashing word art framing the loose calligraphy of the main aphorism. Below, this bright word art is in a big frame, ready to cheer up any space with its inspiring message.

Tsundoku, word art by Amy Crook

Tsundoku: the condition of acquiring reading materials but letting them pile up in one’s home without reading them,
5″x7″ brush and J. Herbin 1670 ink on paper

A bit of fancy-ink word art for Kim’s Patreon sketch. I loaded up my lovely J. Herbin 1670 Stormy Grey ink into a water brush and noodled around making a big pile of books for her to not read.

Because obviously I would never do this.*

*by never I mean always, my To Be Read pile will outweigh me when I die

Concupiscient, word art by Amy Crook

Concupiscient: filled with sexual desire; lustful,
5″x7″ pen & ink and Copic marker on paper

Word art abounds! Kim asked for “concupiscient” as her Patreon patron sketch this month, and since I know she loves Lestrade I couldn’t resist giving him this naughty cameo.

Patreon patrons help pay for art supplies, cat food, and caffeine for the artist, and get great perks like sketches and wallpapers for their ongoing support. Become a patron today!

Two Modes of Cat: Rambunctious Fuckery and Rest, cat sketches by Amy Crook

Two Modes of Cat: Rambunctious Fuckery (bottom) and Rest (top),
brush pen sketches on bookmarks with brush and ink embellishment

I actually have four Patreon patron sketches to do this month, but the first two went together so well I did them as a set. I feel like this is part of an endless cycle, play, sleep, play, sleep, with food taking up some space in there as well.

The top one is drawn with my trusty ink-filled water brush, and the bottom uses another brush pen, plus some diluted amber ink for the embellishments, and a few red dots to amuse myself (and the cats).

Persnickety, word art by Amy Crook

Persnickety: placing too much emphasis on trivial or minor details; fussy,
7″x5″ pen & ink, brush & ink, and pencil on paper

Word Art Wednesday is back after its short break! This was a request from one of my patient Patreon patrons, and I couldn’t resist the urge to get fussy with the drop cap.

What are you persnickety about?

Panurgic, James Bond parody word art by Amy Crook

Panurgic: able or ready to do anything,
7″x5″ pen & ink, brush pen, and Copic marker on paper

When I saw this word, I immediately thought of James Bond — always ready to for a lovely lady, a martini, a fight, or all three at once. He’s sticking to the drink here, but I’m sure at least one of the others will show up later to keep life interesting.

Engouement, Inception word art by Amy Crook

Engouement: unreasoning fondness, 7″x5″ pen and ink on paper

The 6th anniversary of Inception was this past weekend, and so here’s one last adorable Arthur and Eames to celebrate.

“Unreasoning fondness” describes a lot of what it’s like to be in fandom, loving something to a ridiculous degree despite its flaws. See also: cats.

What do you have engouement for?
