a cartoon of hockey player Sid Crosby by Amy Crook

Sid Crosby, 5″x7″ pen & ink and Copic marker on paper

One of my lovely Patreon patrons has been on a bit of a Hockey binge lately, so she asked me to draw her a proper cartoon of Sid Crosby of the Pittsburgh Penguins. Google was convinced I wanted to see him with his shirt off, so we have a combination of no shirt and a bit of team-appropriate gear in the form of his numbered hoodie. Stay tuned for another of his teammates sometime soon!

Hulk Cuddle

HULK CUDDLE by Amy Crook, a pen and marker cartoon of the hulk giving Tony Stark a very enthusiastic hug

HULK CUDDLE, 5″x7″ pen & ink and Copic marker on paper

This image came about talking to my friends about the Marvel Cinematic Universe, like you do, and one of them was enamored of it enough to commission it! I’m especially fond of tony’s wide-eyed look of dismay and Hulk’s upside-down frown of pure joy.

HULK LIKE TIN MAN.

Teehee.

My commissions queue is CLOSED right now and probably will be into next year, so if you were looking to get something, er, ever, you might want to get on the wait list.

Shiny Eevee

Shiny Eevee by Amy Crook, a drawing of a grumpy sleeping Eevee in shiny colors

Shiny Eevee, 7″x5″ pen & ink and Copic marker on paper

Commissioner of Shiny Pokémon strikes again! This time we have a shiny Eevee sleeping like a winter fox, one eye open in the glare perfected by my grumpy cat. I seem to have a thing for grumpy sleeping Eeveelutions, but really, who can blame me?

Jolteon

Jolteon by Amy Crook, a drawing of the Jolteon Pokemon curled up like a cat, glaring

Jolteon, 7″x5″ pen & ink and Copic marker on paper

Belladonna grumpily posed for this addition to my Pokémon series, an Eeveelution looking spiky, grumpy, and generally adorable. Jolteon is an electric type, and while he’s showing his claws, the zap he could give you is probably the real threat. Unlike most of this commission series, this one’s not shiny, though I did make a shiny variation with the power of Photoshop.

Sardines

Sardines by Amy Crook, whirling layers of silver sardines circling against a turquoise ink backdrop on buff paper

Sardines, 10″x8″ ink and watercolor on Arches cover buff paper

Monterey Bay Aquarium has a room where you can stand and watch sardines endlessly dance in circles around you, living flashes of silver in a meditative display.

The thick, buff-colored paper supports a brilliant turquoise ink wash with the perfect amount of watery softness to its shapes. Layers of abstract fish shine out of the blue in shade of silver that catch the light.

An infinite loop of motion and life!

Striking Out

Striking Out by Amy Crook, a watercolor painting of shimmering purple lightning against dark, roiling violet thunderclouds

Striking Out, 10″x8″ watercolor on watercolor paper

‘Striking out’ is a phrase with many connotations, from violence to adventure to failure.

It seemed fitting for this brooding violet storm with its lightning that lands three times and flashes twice more, the paint translucent white from one angle and vibrantly purple in the light.

Even the clouds hold some secret sparkle in their depths, the promise of rain or perhaps a portent of yet more sparks waiting to emerge.

I Won’t Be Your Winter

I Won’t Be Your Winter by Amy Crook, a bloody red grafitti star against a silver and black backdrop

I Won’t Be Your Winter, 5″x7″ watercolor on Arches cover black paper

Bucky Barnes has one of the most tragic backstories in a whole universe full of them. A very goth approach to his painting seemed in order.

Metal runs like rain along lines that echo the plates in the Winter Solider’s arm. Graffiti of a red star bleeds down the page, the image splotched like a splatter of blood.

The title is from another song, this one from an unrelated movie soundtrack, that seemed to fit. The next line is, “I won’t be anyone’s excuse to cry.”

It felt very fitting for a man who finally got away from HYDRA and the people who wanted to use him for destruction.
