Continuing the series, I have another cheerful, illustrative cup of tea.
Curiosity killed the cat, but satisfaction brought him back. This adorable little black cat cup has a tail for a handle, a pair of sugar mice for sweetness, and a friendly bee resting on his nose. His green eye and the golden bee both have a bit of metallic gold paint on them to add shine to this adorable illustration.

Above, you can see both the metallic highlights and painted white tooth and eye-shine that give this adorable kitty and bee extra life. Below, you can see the cuppa in a frame, waiting patiently to be put in a carrier and sent to its new home.

Seriously, how is Friday the first of May? But true to form, I’m going to have half a dozen new paintings for you to covet and maybe even make your own. Trees and skies, locks and eyes, and a bird or two that flies.

Square sketch #2 has my favorite couple to ship, John and Sherlock. Sherlock has snuggled up to John’s side to demand a bit of affection, rather like my cat does. Good thing John’s much more compliant than I am.

Thorin’s being affectionate with his burglar in this little doodle, with some mysterious sparkly bubbles in the background because reasons. Texture reasons.
I had some extra square bits of paper, and rather than chop them up into bookmarks, I decided to sketch on them! This is the first of four, well, two that are done, and two that still need to be done.

Boring Yorick

I doodled up this little Sherlock sketch last year to go in someone’s Christmas present (*waves*), and I thought perhaps today was a good day to share him with you.
Sadly, Yorick wasn’t even murdered, so Sherlock finds the whole thing deadly dull. As it were.

Bedroom Shelfie

These are some of the bookshelves in my bedroom. Yes I said some.
I talk a lot about tucking small art into your bookshelves, but rarely show you what I mean by that! Here you can see some of my favorite pieces snuggling up with a bunch of my books, plushies, and other madness.
You can click on the image to see it bigger, though it’s still not really easy to read titles, sorry. Some highlights:
- The box in the lower left contains my few remaining comic issues (it’s actually a stack of two), with a fat quarter of my own Spoonflower fabric on top, because the cats like to sit there and bird watch.
- The long skinny green box in front of all the Jack Skellingtons contains my wand, because I’m just that much of a Harry Potter dork.
- The bookshelf on the left is mostly hardcovers and trade paperback size books. I’ve read more than half, but there’s a bunch I still need to read. My TBR pile is shameful.
- The bookshelf on the left has anthologies, two shelves of graphic novels, some nonfiction including one of my Vertigo Tarot decks, and on the bottom there’s frames and small canvases, plus a box with the remainder of my alphabet. One of those boxes is from the bookstore release of Harry Potter book 7. See above, re: dork.
- I have a Vorpal Bunny, a snow leopard, a handmade plush of The Crow, and a whole lot of other ridiculous things in there with my books and art. 7 of the art pieces are my originals, and the bottom left one is a print from Evil Supply Co.
- There are more cats than Jack Skellingtons, but only if you don’t count the heads. Grumpy Cat is the newest plushie.

Winter Sun

It’s really hard to photograph and reproduce a blue this light, but I did give a better view to my darling patrons, who got to see how the painting grew its dormant winter trees a few weeks ago.
The pale blue skies of winter hold an equally wan sun shining above these barren boughs. Five trees stand together with branches like lacework, intricate fractals silhouetted against the afternoon sky. A few little birds have braved the cold, can you find all three?
