Stuck in the Tubes, a Sherlock comic by Amy Crook

Stuck in the Tubes, a Sherlock comic by Amy Crook

After a week of planets, I couldn’t resist doing another vaguely circular piece of art for my Saturday Morning Cartoon. This absurd little comic is just here to make you smile today, and possibly shake your head at what a silly person I am.

Go on, you know you want to. It’s okay.

Stuck in the Tubes, 7″x5″ pen and ink on paper, nfs (sold).

Cartoon: Jocelyne Leach

Jocelyne Leach as a Cartoon by Amy Crook

Jocelyne Leach as a Cartoon by Amy Crook

I like to think Jocelyne’s cartoon really shows how far I’ve come with this style of art. She’s doing a simple yoga pose with the legs, has her logo on her tank top, and is toasting us with a tasty green smoothie in her left hand. I think this tall, skinny image is going to go in her sidebar to welcome guests to her website.

Here’s to you, Jocelyne, for being a great client!

If you’d like to Be a Cartoon yourself, just click here to see how! (Hint: there’s a button at the bottom of the page to buy.)

John sketch by Amy Crook

John sketch by Amy Crook

This little Sharpie doodle adorned some Sherlock cards off to their new home, though by now I’ve already forgotten whose package he was on! His chin is pretty manly here, heh, but that’s how it goes when you’re writing with permanent marker on wobbly plastic.

Hope you’re having a great weekend!

Sherlock & Dr Watson Shrinky Dinks

Sherlock, Dr. Watson and a Tentacle, Shrinky Dinks, shrunk, by Amy Crook

Sherlock, Dr. Watson and a Tentacle, Shrinky Dinks,
shrunk, by Amy Crook

I was in the mood to doodle something silly the other day, so I made these three Shrinky Dinks. Above is the “after” version, next to a quarter so you get a feel for how big they turned out. Below is the “before” version, with the very same quarter for comparison.

If you’re coveting these, the tentacle’s been claimed but you can still get John & Sherlock as donation gifts in my HALP PLS computer replacement donation drive. Because while I mostly use natural media (physical not digital things) to make art, I still need a working computer to bring the art to you.

King of Cups Sharpie sketch

King of Cups Sharpie sketch by Amy Crook

King of Cups Sharpie sketch by Amy Crook

This little dude was the last thing I decided on for Sharpie Week, by having my houseguest draw a card from my Medieval Scapini Tarot deck. Then I looked at the intricate, complex drawing and doodled up something far less impressive in my wee sketchbook. King of Cups is the patron of artists, though, so I feel he won’t mind the license.

Sharpie Mutant Ninja Turtle

Sharpie Mutant Ninja Turtle sketch by Amy Crook

Twitter has once again given us our theme for the day, this time from @EmperorzNou whose presence there is partially my fault anyway. *cough* He asked for a mutant turtle perhaps in his teens of the ninja variety, or something like that, and thus you have an inexpertly weeble-ified turtle with obligatory pizza.

Mmm, pizza.

Sinister Sharpie

Sinister Sharpie sketch by Amy Crook

For Friday the 13th, we have @SFEtsy‘s amusing Twitter suggestion, “something sinister that smells like the black abyss that is Sharpie yet with polka dot galoshes.” Spooky, yet adorable.

Happy Friday the 13th, and lucky weekend!
