Squid in a Scarf by Amy Crook
It’s this year’s holiday card! I decided to do something extra silly, so not only is our little squid freezing, he comes in colors. You can see his feeder tentacles wrapped around all 8 arms as he shivers in his hat and scarf a bit anxiously. I decided on a chilly ocean blue for his main body color, which works well with all the color schemes I’ve tried so far, from Hogwarts houses to TARDIS blue and white.

Weeble April Winchell
Monday, August 29th, 2011
Sorry about the silence, I wasn’t feeling well at the end of last week. So, we’re starting the week with a Weeble!
April’s Army is an Etsy Street Team of fans of the site Regretsy.com. Every month, they take donations and open up the April’s Army Etsy shop with all manner of wacky crafts. This is my first contribution, the incomparable April Winchell (also known as Helen Killer on the site) done up in her most “whimsicle” finery and cartooned as a weeble.
I’m donating 5 cards and the original, because what says “I’m thinking of you” better than weeble fuckery?

Cousin Godiva
Wednesday, August 10th, 2011
This idea came to me when I was walking to meet a friend, my (ridiculously) long hair blowing in the breeze. I’ve always been a bit fascinated by the idea of Lady Godiva, and of course Cousin It is a theme anyone with long brown hair will find in their life. The combination of Addams Family and legendary lady was irresistible to my cartooning fingers.
With all the cartoons I do, I’m getting to be an old hand at drawing and coloring hair, so Cousin It was pretty easy overall. It’s the first time I’ve tried to weeble-ify a horse, though!

Weeble Voldemort
Wednesday, July 20th, 2011
Yeah, I said his name. I’m not afraid of the Dark Lord, all things considered.
In honour of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, my friend Gretchen suggested I weeble Voldemort. This is an homage to a certain scene in the movie, but trust me, if you haven’t seen it, this won’t spoil it.
I even gave him a cute plushie Nagini to hang out by his feet with her patchwork spots.

Zombie Coloring
Wednesday, July 6th, 2011
This is thus far the only piece of art I’ve actually finished for my Zombie Family Coloring Book project. Somehow, I just don’t have it in me to draw that many zombies in a row. Who knew?
Still, I’m very pleased with this girl, from her Watchmen t-shirt and bloody, matching socks to her very special crayon holder. Perhaps if I give myself a whole year, I’ll manage a book’s worth of zombies by next Mother’s/Father’s day. Heh.

Monsters of HP Lovecraft Print

Monsters of HP Lovecraft Print by Amy Crook, $23.23
My 4-year-old printer finally bit the dust 2 weeks ago, and when the time came to replace it, I couldn’t resist the lure of a large-format printer. It prints my cards beautifully (and borderlessly), and now I can make something awesome and new – posters! Actually the color is richer and deeper than the old printer, so my cards look even better now, closer to the originals.
Okay, the best part is really that it just fits into the bookshelf where the old one lived, so I don’t have to try to rearrange everything. But the prints are pretty cool.
Cthulhu, Nyarlathotep, and half a dozen others are printed in rich, cartoon colors along with their names and a short description of their place in the Lovecraft Mythos.
I’ve decided to run an open edition of 11″x17″ prints, on high-quality 28-lb bright white laser paper. I’ll be shipping them first class mail in good-quality cardboard poster tubes, so you should get yours in perfect condition and ready to hang. I’ll even sign it!
Monsters of HP Lovecraft Print, 11″x17″ print on paper, $23.23 with free shipping in the US. Available at my Etsy shop.

Delight Gremlin
Wednesday, June 22nd, 2011
The charming Chris Anthony is has recently re-branded his business as The Delightworks! As part of his new thing, he’s planning to sneak in some easter eggs throughout the site, so he asked me to do a cartoon for him. Instead of drawing him, which I’ve already done, he asked me to draw what I imagined his little gremlin might look like from the front. If you’re not sure where the original is, it’s hiding out on his home page, just keep looking.
He’s not quite a weeble, but I figured he was cute enough for a Wednesday, anyway.
