Time Ends, 5″x7″ pen & ink, pencil, and Copic marker on paper
The second in my commission series I’m calling All the Doctors, Twelve is saying another famous line, “Time Ends.” He’s wearing his snazzy Sonic Sunglasses, one of his more casual outfits with the hoodie and t-shirt under the fancy coat, and plaid trousers that were not a thing I recommend drawing by hand.
And yet, somehow, I keep drawing dudes in plaid. Go figure.
You can get this Doctor at my Etsy shop, where he’d make a great card to give to someone who’s just waiting for 2016 to be over already.

Autumn Leaves
Wednesday, November 23rd, 2016
Happy Thanksgiving* from America!
Despite everything about the country turning into a slow-burning trash fire, I’m still really grateful for a lot of things in life. My patrons who support me, my friends who put up with me, my family who loves me, and even my cats.
I asked my Patreon patrons to request two sketches last month to help fill out my Inktober calendar, and this was Kim’s second request. I used four different J. Herbin inks, including the lovely gold-accented Rouge Hematite, and did a loose, tumbling clutter of fallen leaves, blown together by an unseen wind. I can just hear the crunch-crunch of them underfoot.
You can get this lovely image on a card in my Etsy shop, and celebrate your own love of the changing seasons.

Sherlock’s Perfect Christmas
Tuesday, November 15th, 2016
This year for Sherlock’s annual holiday card, I decided to give him a little bit of all of his favorite things — from Victorian wallpaper to modern murder, there’s a perfect Sherlock Christmas in the making.
I’m particularly fond of the gingerdead man — what’s your favorite part?

A Murder of Crows 3
Tuesday, November 8th, 2016
Blues and violets and soft lavenders glow against the rich black of the tree and crows, the sky softly textured as if with a mist that’s parted to display the shining moon in all her glory.
Nine dark crows are coming to roost in the sparse winter tree, its branches ravaged by some accident of the past, lightning or storm or some other act of man or nature.
A full moon brings clarity and insight with it, shining its light into all the branching processes of your decisions and thoughts.

Pink Sunset
Monday, November 7th, 2016
This magnificent pink and gold sunset uses a mix of rose and amber inks to create a glowing bank of clouds, with just a hint of red near the horizon. A softer brown brings the trees and birds into closer focus than the darker silhouettes of black in some of the other Horizons pieces.
Although the colors in this are intense, the overall effect is gorgeous rather than gaudy, like a tiny window into a world where the sun is forever painting the sky in bright, glowing hues.

Harvest Moon 3
Saturday, November 5th, 2016
Remember, remember, the fifth of November — happy Guy Fawkes Day, Brits! Don’t forget to check your bonfire for hedgehogs and Watsons (same thing, really).
This ink painting uses a gorgeous wash of honey-gold to create a lush harvest moon, and then a deep, opaque black for the sky and silhouetted crow flying across the moon. There are slightly shimmery copper stars in the vast blackness of the sky adding a touch of life to the dramatic image.
There is a beautiful sense of movement as the crow glides across the moon, not quite centered but wonderfully detailed despite being a single color of deep black.
This golden harvest moon will add a bit of mystery to its new home.

London Fog
Friday, October 28th, 2016
A London Fog is an Earl Grey tea latte with a bit of vanilla syrup, creamy and sweet and fragrant and oh so good on an autumn day. Q’s assistant brought him this one, and he’s got a matching tea-patterned sweater to go with it, because tea is love.
You can get this silly ode to tea as a card in my Etsy shop, or support me on Patreon and request art like this for your very own!
