This is the first in a series of all 13 Doctors I’ll be doing for a Patreon patron! The Fifth Doctor is his favorite, and so I had to go all out with the celery and stripey trousers. So stripey.

Another soft, dusky Horizons painting small enough to fit on a bookshelf, desk, or surprising bit of wall.
There’s a gentle rain falling in the gloomy sky behind these delicately branching trees. Three brave birds fly through it, getting to their nighttime roosts before full dark.

The beautiful Garnet Fox has a friend in this Blue Bunny.
Blue Apatite Genuine forms a lovely swirling midnight hue for the rabbit’s base color, with shimmering interference blue atop, and a glow of bronzite and quinacridone gold surrounding this lovely bounding bunny.
Larger than a lot of my work, this painting would be perfect in place of pride, matted into a silver frame in your home.

Night, All, 7″x5″ watercolor on watercolor paper
Sunsets and sunrises hold a lot of fascination, the liminal spaces of dusk and dawn where light bleeds and changes, washing the world in reds and golds, turning the crisp shapes of day into the soft silhouettes of night.
This sunset sky is a soft fade from fiery orange into the deep blue of dusk, vivid color making a beautiful backdrop to a very mundane view. Birds on a wire, trees in full summer form, and the roofs of houses echo the views where so many of us live.
There’s a beautiful juxtaposition in the layers of civilization and nature, light and shadow, oranges and blues.

Outside, 5″x5″ watercolor on Arches cover buff paper
This newest Pathways painting is quite a small example of its kind. An off-kilter view suggest the viewer is laying down, looking out at some sort of mountain landscape through vine-laden bars on a square window.
There’s a tiny bit of sparkle in this one, but mostly it’s just lovely violets on the warm buff-colored paper.
This piece would display beautifully in a frame with a white mat to set off the delicate warmth of the paper, or even floated on a dark, pearly grey to display the hand-torn edge of the paper.

Above, you can see the subtle variations in the violet much better, and just a hint of shimmery sparkle hiding in the deepest purples. Below, you can see this small painting in a small frame, perfect for adding color to a small space.

The final piece in this month’s gallery is last little bit of shine brilliance, with interference red providing the delicate details on this fox’s garnet fur.
A whimsical, graphical style is paired with intricate pattern work for a gorgeous piece of art that would brighten any home or office.
Like any trickster fox, this one only shows its best side when it wants to, and in this case the lovely red shines against the rich garnet paint of its fur only when turned into the light.
