Willow
Tuesday, September 5th, 2017
Labor Day is over, so here’s some art to start your week!
The last rosy blush of sunset gives way to bands of color in the clear sky. A hint of wind blows the branches of a willow and carries two ravens in their flight.
If you’re the sort to count corvids, two is for joy!
Above, you can see the subtle fade of color through the sky, and the detailed silhouette of the ravens. The framed photo below shows the colors best, and demonstrates the larger size and really highlights the way the tree breaks the borders of the sky, adding a surrealist tinge.

Sunshower
Tuesday, August 8th, 2017
The sunshower below the clouds in this painting is so subtle that my scanner couldn’t pick up on it, and so you get an iPhone photo so you can understand the title!
I went away from crows and opted for a flock of sparrows flying through the blue sky, staying up above the small sprinkling of sunlit rain. The tree in this one has clearly had a hard life, but is soldiering on, waiting for proper warm spring sunshine and another chance to grow.
What’s your favorite weather?
Above, you can see the tiny sparrows and the subtle glow of sunshine and rain under the clouds. Below, the painting is tucked into a frame, just waiting to light up your life.

The Lovely Tree
Friday, August 4th, 2017
Beautiful baby-blue blossoms adorn this tree, in contrast to the baby-pink glow of the sunset in the background. Hints of falling petals dot the sky, and barely-seen branches peek through the flowers here and there.
Pulling inspiration from the colors of the trans pride flag, this tree stands tall and proud in support of all the trans people in and out of the military, brave enough to live their truth despite the many obstacles.
Above, you can see the loose, natural details of watercolor overlapping like flower petals, and below the piece is in a temporary frame, waiting to be planted in its permanent home.

Good Evening
Wednesday, July 5th, 2017
This painting has so much in it for being so small! The trees are loose columns sketched by the breeze and the season. The clouds range from bright pink to rich gold with every shade of orange in between. There’s even a colony of bats heading out for its nightly hunt of pesky insects or delicious nectar.
The red sun is barely a hint as it sinks that last tiny fragment down below the horizon, leaving us for the night where some of us belong.
When it comes to pollinators, are you more of a bat or a bee?
Both. Both is good.
Above, you can see the tiny bats flying off into the golden-orange sunset. Below, this small painting is in its frame, waiting to bring some color to your wall, shelf, desk, or mantel.

Five for Silver 2
Wednesday, June 7th, 2017
Part five of the eerily monochrome Counting Crows series, we’ve moved along in the rhyme to a whole roost of crows and a bit of silver.
Our ghostly figure this time has a distinctly skeletal appearance, and the crows are all arrayed above her in a perfect murder. The lightning-split tree reaches up through the mist toward what little light has filtered down on this foggy day.
It’s fascinating how fog can reduce the entire world to just you and things you can barely see, isn’t it?
Above, you can see the titular crows arrayed above the faded figure in all her eerie glory. Below, this painting roosts in a frame, waiting to fly to its new home.

Winter Rain
Tuesday, June 6th, 2017
Shimmering iridescent rain falls in a curtain behind these stalwart winter trees, branches reaching up to drink in the moisture. Seven crows are winging in, a full murder alighting on the branches to discuss whatever business it is that corvids have on days like this.
You can imagine yourself transported to this quiet day, breathing in the ozone scent of petrichor, listening to the gentle patter of rainfall and the soft cawing of crows. A different kind of beautiful day, but perfect for a certain sort of soul.
Above, you can see the sunlight glinting off the rain, the twisty trees, and the crows coming in for a landing. Below, you can see this art framed, a beautiful slice of winter in a small package.
