Weeble Isidore by Amy Crook

Weeble Isidore by Amy Crook

Yet another of my buddies, Isidore is wearing her Hufflepuff colors in her weeble. I went for an argyle sweater and saddle shoes to spiff up her simple jeans, and of course had to add in a book on one of her favorite subjects, the British royal family.

If you’re enjoying these weebles, remember that you, too, can be a cartoon for just $79.

Potions Accident by Amy Crook

Potions Accident by Amy Crook

By now I’m sure it’s obvious I’m a big fan of the Harry Potter books, so I thought I’d post another little drawing I did. The cheap paper made the Copic markers bleed a little more than usual, but I like the effect in the eerie magic flame under Harry’s cauldron.

Weeble Wednesday: Ruby

Weeble Ruby by Amy Crook

Weeble Ruby by Amy Crook

Continuing with friends of mine, this week we have my friend Ruby. She secretly loves the color pink, so I used my markers to good effect, and show her playing with her favorite toy at the time, her Nintendo DS (she cheats on it with her iPhone now). It was fun doing drawings of my friends, because I could really load up on the props — she’s also got a rose (that goes with her username), and her special walking shoes.

If you like these, remember that you, too, can be a cartoon for just $79.

Weeble Cthulhu

Weeble Cthulhu by Amy Crook

Weeble Cthulhu by Amy Crook

As promised, I’m reposting Weeble Cthulhu from earlier this year so he’s hiding in amongst my daily art for those seeking out my (so far rather small) series of Lovecraftian weebles. He’s got his pet Shoggoth with him with his bowl of cultist snacks and everything.

I made a greeting card out of him for Valentine’s Day that said, “Cthulhu wanted to give you a heart, but they were all too small and squishy.” They sold so well I took off the “Happy Valentine’s Day” and have left them up on the shop ever since.

Weeble Cthulhu, 4″x6″ pen and ink and Copic markers on a watercolor postcard.

Pink Octopus

Pink Octopus by Amy Crook

Pink Octopus by Amy Crook

A few years back (2006 says the signature!), we visited the Baltimore Aquarium when they had their octopus. He was just so adorable, pink and friendly, and he had this little puzzle-box full of shrimp that we declared was his purse. I spent a long time watching him, studying the way his limbs met his body and the decidedly un-graceful curls and squiggles of his long tentacles, especially the way they attenuated at the very ends.

So, when I got home, I had to draw him! I gave him a purse full of shrimp, and used my “Prawn” copic marker to color him. I ran across him while I was looking for some other files, and I thought I’d share him with you as a lazy Saturday post.

Weeble Wednesday: The Innsmouth Look

The Innsmouth Look by Amy Crook

The Innsmouth Look by Amy Crook

It’s beginning to look a lot like Fishmen! I’ve decided to do a whole series of Weeble Mythos creatures, to go with Weeble Cthulhu with his Shoggoth — who apparently I posted as a wallpaper but never gave their own post, oops. Sunday, maybe!

Lovecraft’s classic story Shadows Over Innsmouth has inspired a lot of art, writing and video since, and this is my interpretation of the creepy Deep One who’s nearly through with his transformation. I’ve been thinking of putting him on a card or print (he’s currently trapped in a sketchbook so his original isn’t for sale), what do you think?

I’m thinking perhaps Father Dagon & Mother Hydra next, or perhaps Hastur.

Sugarbutt the Fairy by Amy Crook

Sugarbutt the Fairy by Amy Crook

One of my shameful addictions is the Facebook game Fairyland. When I first started playing I named my Fairy “Sugarbutt” and after a few months I decided to draw up a portrait of him, complete with rosy cheeks and flower cap. I guess he lost his leafy clothing right before the portrait, oops?
