Exploring
Saturday, August 5th, 2017
Through the fantastic foliage, the tiger stalks its prey. Or that’s what this adventurous tabby cat is imagining. Colored-ink lines give a cartoonish appearance that’s meant to evoke a Disneyish feel (though Disney is usually a bit more coy about cat butt).
If you’ve ever met a cat, you know this is a very common view, however, and soon enough it becomes commonplace. The real question isn’t about the end of the cat facing us, but where the other end is headed off to and what it will find it its explorations.
Above, you can see the lovely details of ink lines and watercolor shading on the foreground foliage. Below, the kitty is in a frame, to be viewed as though through a cat door as it heads out on its adventure.

Podovich
Saturday, May 6th, 2017
It’s Caturday – a wild Pod appears! Only this time he’s been evolved into a Russian Blue instead of his usual sleek black, hence the name.
Podovich is curled up in a fuzzy ball with just one pink ear to break up the soft, inviting grays. The white pillowy surface he’s sleeping on carries just a hint of shadow, as of course he’s found himself someplace flooded with light for his nap.
That must be why he’s got his paw over his eyes.
Where in your life do you need a kitty to remind you of the value of catnaps?
Above, you can see the little details of fur and ear and one closed eye not quite hidden completely. Below, Podovich is napping in a frame, safe and content.

30 Day Marker Challenge, part 3
Tuesday, April 25th, 2017
The amazing Sadynax gave herself a 30-day Marker Challenge last month, and I decided to do it for April to help get back in the swing of art after my surgery. Three weeks and counting I’ve managed some daily art, hooray!
I’m giving my wonderful Patreon supporters some bonuses at the $5+ sketch levels this month, so it’s a good time to become a patron!

State of the Kitties: 2017
Thursday, January 5th, 2017
As we move out of the trash year that was 2016, I know there is one important question on everyone’s minds: how are the cats of the world?
Belladonna is going to be 15 (!!) this spring, and while she’s thin and arthritic and grumpy, she’s still pretty spry and loves her heated cat bed. I need to take her in for an old lady vet checkup pretty soon, and we’ve installed cat stairs around to avoid too much leaping, but all in all she does pretty well. Also, since she’s so old, she is constantly spoiled rotten by both myself and roomie — she gets lots of extra treats and has graduated to yelling at us until someone turns on the faucet for her majesty to drink fresh water.
Her other current fave is her catnip dental treats, which you can help provide by supporting her human slave.
Pteropodidae (aka Pod), on the other hand, is hitting kitty middle age and getting the spread. He turned 8 this past autumn, and is getting quite the bodacious kitty bod going. I’m making a bit of an effort to give him more murder baby enrichment time with The Great Red Dot and the fuzzy snake, but overall I admit I kind of like his softer, lazier side. Even if he does sometimes make me go ‘oof’ when stepping on my tummy.
Podling definitely has the whole “cats are liquid and control their own gravity” thing going, especially when he doesn’t want to be picked up.
Podzilla would like you to buy something from the Etsy Shop so he can get a new cat tree from which to survey his domain.

Two Modes of Cat
Tuesday, August 23rd, 2016
I actually have four Patreon patron sketches to do this month, but the first two went together so well I did them as a set. I feel like this is part of an endless cycle, play, sleep, play, sleep, with food taking up some space in there as well.
The top one is drawn with my trusty ink-filled water brush, and the bottom uses another brush pen, plus some diluted amber ink for the embellishments, and a few red dots to amuse myself (and the cats).

Cat Naps
Tuesday, June 2nd, 2015
Cats! Lazy, languid, liquid cats. I first explored this idea in a sketchy little bookmark, but of course with only room for three poses it wasn’t nearly enough.
I took inspiration from my own ridiculous pets, Belladonna and Pod, and of course the many cats on the internet.
I have trouble choosing a favorite — what’s yours?
Cat Naps, 5″x7″ brush and ink on paper.
Above, you can see a close up of the fine brush work on this sleeping kitty, rich with texture despite the minimalist design. Below, you can see the piece in a frame, just waiting to add some extra kitty zen to your life.

Self-Portrait of the Artist as a Villain, with Cats
Monday, February 16th, 2015
It’s been so long since I dyed my hair or drew a weeble, I decided it was time for a new self-portrait. I drew myself in the style of my Sherlock and Doctor Who fan art comics, so now I, too, can be a fancy stick figure. I’ve also updated the site to match my awesome purple villain chair, I hope you enjoy the cool violets that have replaced my beloved bloody reds.
Pod is sitting in my lap, with Belladonna up top, and the three of us have identical unimpressed expressions, which amuses me greatly. The ‘NO’ t-shirt isn’t actually in my collection, but it’s one of my favorite words. It’s useful in so many situations!
