Invisible Sun
Posted on August 6th, 2018
Through the haze of smoke and destruction, a sun faintly glows with the softest sheen of gold. Below, fantastic buildings are shattered, battered, burnt, and broken.
Another set of painted ruins joins the series of apocalyptic visions. This one is small, the size of a postcard. The sky is the color of sunset on a day full of pollution in the city, smog that dulls vision and steals the color and life from the landscape.
The title is, of course, from a song by The Police.

Whimsical Doldrums
Posted on August 2nd, 2018
This particular city skyline has a very specific sort of aesthetic, grim yet filled with delight. From the curlicue clouds to the building that’s a cat, there’s whimsy to go along with the gloom.
The painting is a true panorama, covering a swathe of buildings huddled close against the rain, their outlines loose and details smudged with rainfall.
Where would this whimsical oddity fit into your life?

Above, you can see a close-up of some of the buildings in all their grimly delightful glory. Below, this panoramic piece spans the whole writing desk, even without a frame to contain it.

Every King That Died
Posted on July 25th, 2018
Next week the Floating Gallery will be back! Until then, you have this to tide you over, a little sketchbook drawing that I thought would make a very cool tattoo. I’ve been earwormed by Bastille all month for some reason, because my brain thought it’d be a great time to get into a 4-year-old Britpop album, but what can you do?
Draw skulls in paper crowns, that’s what.
I was considering making a card or print of this, what do you think?

June Patreon Sketches
Posted on July 18th, 2018
My patient Patreon supporters have sketches! They’re all pretty bad about asking for them, lol, but I love every person anyway since that makes it easier for me to go above and beyond when the mood strikes.
From left to right, we have:
- “storage units DOOM” for Jeff
- Bitty from OMGCP for Grace
- Matt from Swan Song for Corinne
- and on the bottom, dark and gloomy and fiery for Springbok
