Octopus Ink
Monday, November 2nd, 2015
Emerald of Chivor. Poussiere de Lune. Gris Nuage. These beautiful inks have intriguing names that just ask to be brought out of their bottles and onto the page.
This octopus looks like he’s reciting something equally eloquent, perhaps a Shakespearean soliloquy or Poe poem. He’s drifting through the brilliant blue waters, thinking deep thoughts.
Or craving fish.
One of those.

Above, you can see the rich interplay of colors, and the pop of gold in the octopus’ eye. Below, he’s hanging out in a frame, waiting to swim to his new home.

Alas, poor Nemo! I knew him, Doratio.

Tree Trimming
Monday, October 19th, 2015
Cthulhu is getting into the holiday spirit a little early this year! He’s trimming his tree with his favorite decoration, cultists. Even the tree is enjoying its little holiday snack, er, decor.
The greeting card will bring just the right holiday cheer to the right person — a fan of horror, especially the Lovecraftian sort, with a good sense of humor.

Fixed Point
Sunday, September 6th, 2015
The holidays are still far off for most of us, but it’s the time of year when creators have to think about what’s coming up. The Doctor, of course, is always very busy at Christmastime!

Navy Squid
Wednesday, February 18th, 2015
This commission was a Christmas gift, it’s just taken me a while to get it into the schedule with all the other madness going on.
The giftee for this was formerly in the Navy, and is a fan of two of Boston’s sports teams, so we incorporated both those ideas into his cheerful blue tentacularness*. He’s either doffing or straightening his cover, which is at a bit of a jaunty angle for a proper naval serviceman. Or servicesquid.

*tentacularness is totally a word

Tentacle-Tied
Saturday, January 24th, 2015
“You make Cthulhu tentacle-tied,” says the Elder God of legend and nightmare, looking quite wide-eyed and nervous. Will you take pity on Cthulhu and be his Valentine?

Dreamlands
Monday, November 3rd, 2014
Pink jellyfish float serenely over a translucent city in shadowy greens, everything looking half-real against the sky of blue with hints of periwinkle and lavender. Deadly tendrils caress the tops of the buildings, or perhaps pass right through them, and the buildings tilt along with the horizon, like something in a dream.
I’m sure it surprises nobody that the Dreamlands are a Lovecraftian sort of thing, the alien worlds one travels to in the perilous hours of dreaming.

Above, you can see the way the jellyfish float past the city, unaffected by its strange towers and spires. Below, you can see the painting in a temporary frame, like a window into a dream.
