4 bookmarks by Amy Crook, pen & ink and Copic marker

4 bookmarks by Amy Crook, 1.5″x7″ pen & ink and Copic marker on comic backing board

My wonderful backers on Patreon this month gave me some great prompts, and so we have a dragon, a cat, some spring flowers, and Rory from Gilmore Girls. I was apparently feeling the purple, though to be fair I knew the dragon person liked purple, and I’ve always associated spring with lilacs.

If you’d like to see me sketch to your specs next month, become a patron yourself!

Wimble, a Sherlock parody comic by Amy Crook

Wimble: Any of several boring tools, such as a gimlet or an auger; to bore with.
7″x5″ pen & ink and Copic marker on paper

This was only the second Word Art Wednesday, and I’ve already resorted to terrible puns. I don’t think this bodes well for you all, but hopefully you’ll enjoy them anyway.

I’ll be doing another of these tomorrow on Periscope, probably around 2pm Pacific. Come join me! Or watch me. Or at least my hands. Something.

Conversation Heart art prompts

February is almost over, and these are the last of the conversation heart sketches. I went through and isolated all of the prompts I’d not yet drawn (but still pulled them at random each day), and that took me exactly through the end of the month. Yay!

Conversation Arts 22: Date Night

Conversation Arts 22: Date Night – $45

I get a bit Genghis Khan. Also known as the most adorkable music video ever.

Conversation Arts 23: Sweet Stuff

Conversation Arts 23: Sweet Stuff – $25

This sketchy art is perfect for the Mad Hatter’s sketchy personality – but at least he’s got sweet treats for us.

Conversation Arts 24: Ooh La La

Conversation Arts 24: Ooh La La – sold

I’ve had umbrellas on my mind, and Sherlock wanted to show off his.

Conversation Arts 25: Be Happy

Conversation Arts 25: Be Happy – $45

What better to be happy about than a Pooh Bear and his very best Piglet?

Conversation Arts 26: Real Love

Conversation Arts 26: Real Love – $10

Giving up the last slice of pizza: now that’s real love.

Conversation Arts 27: BFF

Conversation Arts 27: BFF – $10

Getting my obscure fandom on, but my BFF knows the score.

Conversation Arts 28: I Love You

Conversation Arts 28: I Love You – sold

This dragon loooooves tea. Tea is life. Mmmmcaffeine.

Conversation Arts 29: Wicked Cool

Conversation Arts 29: Wicked Cool – $45

Roxy as promised, bringing us the Leap Day goodness in her pinstripe Kingsman suit.

Next month…

I’m going to try a regular Wednesday thing instead of daily art, to see if I can keep from driving myself batty. Come watch me on Periscope!

Sweet Talk

Sweet Talk, a Kingsman parody comic by Amy Crook

Sweet Talk, 5″x7″ pen & ink and Copic marker.

This Harry and Eggsy are just begging to be a bookmark set, so I took my time and colored this Conversation Arts sketch of Merlin from last week to go with them. Now it just needs Roxy and we’ll be set, perhaps in her own three-piece Kingsman suit.

Conversation Heart art prompts

I have had the flu all week! The blue ones are less awful-tasting when you can’t smell, but still pretty bad. Most of these have no color, because it’s hard to color when you’re coughing and sneezing and pathetic. I’m not dead yet, though! I’m feeling better! Anyway, the whims of fate and candy have brought these seven new sketches.

Conversation Arts 15: Wink Wink

Conversation Arts 15: Wink Wink – $10

I admit, I googled bad Star Trek pick-up lines and picked my favorite for Kirk. Cheeky bugger.

Conversation Arts 16: Melt My <3 2

Conversation Arts 16: Melt My <3 2 – $10

Kitties are the perfect way to melt anyone’s frozen heart, even Anna’s.

Conversation Arts 17: Be Mine 2

Conversation Arts 17: Be Mine 2 – sold

I still haven’t had any proper tea this week. Herbal, yes, but I miss my Earl Grey!

Conversation Arts 18: Hold Hands

Conversation Arts 18: Hold Hands – sold

If you haven’t seen Galavant then I’m very sad for you. But I still super believe in Tad Cooper.

Conversation Arts 19: Sweet Pea

Conversation Arts 19: Sweet Pea – $10

Ahaha I was so sick when I did this, but I still find it hilarious. Especially the judicious use of glitter gel pen.

Thorin + Arkenstone = OTP.

Conversation Arts 20: Sweet Talk

Conversation Arts 20: Sweet Talk – $45 (colored)

It’s up to you who’s on the other end of the comm there. Kingsman is one of those movies I adore despite the parts I hate (ugh FPS violence), and rewatching it while sick totally renewed all my crushes.

Conversation Arts 21: True Blue

Conversation Arts 21: True Blue – $45

Stitch good.

Ohana means family. And family means nobody gets left behind or forgotten.

Plague Doctor Who

Plague Doctor Who, parody art by Amy Crook

Plague Doctor Who, 5″x7″ pen & ink and Copic marker on paper

One day, I sat at my art table and made a list of all the commissions I have pending, because I’d like to re-open the queue someday and that means finishing the art already owing. Then, I drew this instead, which nobody asked for. Because reasons.*

Of all the Doctors I’ve watched, Eleven seemed the likeliest to wear a plague mask, and also the easiest to tell apart from the others with subtle costume cues. And by subtle, I mean the fez.

Also, plague masks are cool.

*pun reasons

Conversation Heart art prompts

Another week, another set of candy hearts! I’ve eaten every one of these after finishing the sketch, and let me tell you, blue is not good. But it means the weird repeats are all natural, as it were! The whims of fate and candy have brought seven more sketches.

Conversation Arts 8: True Love

Conversation Arts 8: True Love – sold

Castiel + Dean = a complete inability to communicate like adults. But also love.

Conversation Arts 9: :)

Conversation Arts 9: 🙂 – $10

If you’ve ever played Settlers of Catan, you have heard this joke before.

Conversation Arts 10: True Love 2

Conversation Arts 10: True Love 2 – $25

I admit it, I am addicted to Neko Atsume. Peaches really loves the sakuramochi cushion, when she can get her paws on it.

Conversation Arts 11: Melt My <3

Conversation Arts 11: Melt My <3 – sold

One of my Patreon patrons asked for February rain for her sketch, and I ended up with this sweet bit of sadness.

Conversation Arts 12: Be Mine

Conversation Arts 12: Be Mine – $10

Sleep deprivation + Periscope encouragement = bee puns.

Conversation Arts 13: Let's Kiss

Conversation Arts 13: Let’s Kiss – $45

Apparently I really want to draw Q this month, so this time I matched him up with an orange tabby. Because kitten kisses are the best kisses.

Conversation Arts 14: Best Day 2

Conversation Arts 14: Best Day 2 – $45

“Q, why did you want to come to the beach if you’re not going to swim?”

“I’ve got exactly what I want, James, don’t you worry.”
