Conversation Heart art prompts

After recovering from the foolishness of doing a daily sketch project and NaNoWriMo in a single month (my advice: don’t do that), I felt ready to tackle the month of love and sarcasm! I bought a bag of large conversation hearts, and have been choosing (and eating) one out of the bag every day. The whims of fate and candy have brought you these seven sketches.

Untrue Love by Amy Crook, a Consulting Magic short

PS – If you’ve been curious about my writing, the little G-rated “how they met” short Untrue Love is on sale this week — for free!

This story shows us Alex’s first case, when he was an insufferable little university student instead of an insufferable adult. He meets Agent Murielle Lapointe, with whom he’s still working years later in the novels, and they work together to catch a killer.

Cthulhu Pickup Lines, parody art by Amy Crook

Cthulhu Pickup Lines, 5″x7″ pen & ink and Copic marker.

“You’re hotter than Cthugha…”

“Are you an Elder God? Because your looks are driving me insane…”

“Even with strange aeons, my love will never die…”

Perhaps Cthulhu is not cut out for pickup lines.

Buy the Valentine in my Etsy shop, and show someone you love them in the cheesiest, most tentacular way possible.

Morning Kiss

Morning Kiss, James Bond parody art by Amy Crook

Morning Kiss, 5″x7″ pen & ink and Copic marker on paper.

A lovely patron asked me to do a number of commissions for her, and this one got moved to the top of the pile in order to make it available as a Valentine!

She wanted a sweet morning moment, of Bond is just his pj bottoms and Q in cute sleep shorts, with James bringing his Quartermaster his first cup of Earl Grey. And, of course, giving him a kiss on the cheek.

Cutie pies.

Candles Make it More Romantic

Thursday, January 14th, 2016

Candles Make it More Romantic, Sherlock fan art by Amy Crook

Candles Make it More Romantic, 7″x5″ pen & ink and Copic marker on paper.

When Sherlock finally decided to go all-out for John and put candles on the table, he really put candles on the table. He starts to say, “I might have gone a bit…” but John interrupts with, “Angelo was right, Candles do make the table more romantic.”

A wonderful card for a Valentine or year round to show how nice it is to be loved just as you are.

Cuppa Cheer

Cuppa Cheer by Amy Crook

Cuppa Cheer, 7″x5″ pen & ink and Copic marker on paper

If you’re on my (admittedly tiny) holiday card list, you’ve already seen this art! I haven’t yet put the gold paint on this image for scanning reasons, but I’d be happy to gild the cup’s golden edges for you if you want some extra sparkle for your home.

This painting would add some cheer to any Christmas-celebrating home. Put it in a frame and pull it out at the holidays every year to celebrate both the season and the value of a good cuppa tea.

What kind of tea do you like best?

Above, you can see the holly decorating the teabag tag on this cheerful cuppa. Below, it’s sitting in a plain frame, though one could easily find a beautiful holiday holder for future display.
