Stay tf Home
Thursday, April 30th, 2020
I did this piece for Instagram back in March but the sentiment continues, and will continue, to apply.
Stress and creativity are weird bedfellows, uncomfortably clashing and mixing in strange ways. There’s not going to be the same kind of Floating Gallery in May because things aren’t done, but some commissions are getting off the books instead, which is its own kind of goodness. My Patreon patrons continue to be a source of support and delight, and their sketches are also getting done, albeit slowly. They will get first dibs on anything that drops in May, including this piece.
Stay safe, be well, and pet your animals. At least the ones that don’t bite.

Patreon sketches for December 2019 requests
Thursday, January 30th, 2020
I’ve decided to stick with my new standard size for Patreon sketches from now on, so everyone gets a standard ACEO (artist card, edition original) aka trading card size piece of art when they make a request. Patrons also get to see exclusive photos, including cat pics, works in progress, and other such shenanigans. Plus, they get the warm feeling of contentment that they support the arts every month!
I’ve also been doing some figure sketch practice, so expect to see more actual people at some point! I’m pretty happy with how the sketches are coming out, even if I haven’t done a ton of them yet.
My commissions queue is full, so I’m working hard on clearing the decks so I can open them up again, as well as finally editing my newest book (it’s so close to done omg), and finishing up some other long-overdue projects. I don’t think it’s possible to feel caught up anymore, but I have hopes that someday I’ll have space to breathe and take on new work!
In the meantime, the January requests post is still open, if you want to join us on Patreon!

Inktober 2019, part 3
Tuesday, November 12th, 2019
October continued to be Peak 2019, and the Floating Gallery happened before this, the final round-up of my successful Inktober. Thanks for all your patience and support!
Abbreviation decoder ring!
- wip = work in progress, ie, I’m probably going to color some or all of the drawing before it’s really done
- nfs = not for sale, ie, it’s a Patreon sketch and already belongs to someone else
- ACEO = Artist Card, Edition Original, also known as ATC or Artist Trading Card when traded rather than sold, which is a standard size I use for all my Patreon sketches these days
Want to get your own sketches, dibs on art, or just feel the warm glow of being part of my community of supporters? Head over to Patreon and pick a tier to get started! There’s also bonus cat photos sometimes, if that helps.

99 Tech Toys
Thursday, September 19th, 2019
When my friend Amber asked me to help her think of a birthday card design to tease her husband about the Switch he didn’t have*, we tossed around a few ideas, but this was the winner. “I got 99 tech toys but a Switch ain’t one” was just too funny not to use, plus it let me design Rap Badass Rey, which will have many uses in the future.
Some of the text was edited in post, mainly the Switch logo effect, because sometimes computers really do just do it better.
*obviously, he got one along with the card

Patreon Sketches, July 2019
Thursday, August 22nd, 2019
More Patreon sketches! I’m all caught up now, so there’ll be another half dozen or so next month, from August’s request post. These are all the size of a trading card – 2.5″x3.5″ – and either of bristol board or watercolor paper.
From the top left we have:
- a little doodle for Corinne’s story,
- Lab Coat Pikachu for Eric,
- Mehdays kitty for Jeff,
- a Carousel Selkie for Rebecca,
- “hurry up autumn!” for Kim,
- and some sunshiney goodness for Roxanne.
There’s still time to get in on the goodness for September — I’m giving extra rewards out for my birthday, plus patrons get a preview of all the Floating Gallery art, and a bunch* of other perks. If I get just a few more patrons, I’ll even be adding a new reward to the lineup! Become my patron today.
*including extra cat photos, as voted upon by my patrons

Collard Greens
Thursday, March 21st, 2019
Another addition to the cookbook project — you can see that I did the inks back in 2017, before the universe entirely fell apart around me, and am finally getting the scan edited and ready to share with you.
I get collard greens in my produce box sometimes, and since I don’t like pork we had to google around to find a way to cook them. I discovered that 2 turkey legs is a lot of meat, so we end up doubling up the collards with something else from the box a lot. Rainbow chard is a favorite!
I’m entirely certain that my red beans & rice recipe is Very White so I haven’t included it, as is this one, really, so take it with a grain of salt.
The advantage of this is that all the ingredients are pretty inexpensive, even out here in California. I can usually get a pair of turkey legs for around $5 and make a lot of meals out of this when the turkey meat is chopped up and added back into the mix.
Enjoy!
