In Dreams by Amy Crook

In Dreams, 6″x4″ watercolor on paper, $200.

Kitty!

This sleeping feline is floating among the stars, at least in its dreams. The paper glows through a bright white where the cat is outlined, and the sky itself has swirls of black, blue, and violet all through it, showing through stars out into the infinite. Perfect for a nap!

Sowing

Sowing by Amy Crook

Sowing, 7″x5″ watercolor on paper, $250.

This abstract has echoes of my old, old planetary paintings, but it’s also got the same mood as my Growth series, just from the other side — all those sent-away seeds are finding a place on the blood-red planet just waiting to be sown.

The painting is on a thick, deliciously textured handmade paper to add amazing detail, and the seed-stars shine with a subtle green.

October 2023 Patreon Sketches

Thursday, March 14th, 2024

A bunch of goodies this time! Patron stuff, non-patron stuff, and spaaaaaaace!

I got in a weird mood and did a whole bunch of things that were not for patrons before getting to those, so bear with me. From the top left:

  • Jefferson asked for “patience, dammit” and gets this grumpy yet patient crow (sold)
  • This is a bird no one asked for
  • Amy B asked for “hibernate” and gets a random dark fluffball hiding in a blanket burrito, with blep (sold)
  • Skulls 1, 2, and 3 are vaguely portraits of my holiday centerpiece, which consisted of Edgar, Ezra Bean, and Dalton, respectively. Yes, I do name my skulls. Don’t you?
  • This blue galaxy is by special request (sold)
  • Eric asked for the Great Pumpkin and I went horror with it sorry (sold)
  • Rey & Amber requested “seasons change” and get some word art (sold)
  • The lunar eclipse is for SaraBeth (sold)
  • Nick wanted Pumpkin SPICY and gets a pumpkin chili pepper jack-o-lantern pun (sold)
  • Kelly asked for dragons and gets these two little dudes (sold)
  • In the second image we have a whole rainbow of galaxies! (all sold)

Thanks again for being awesome!

Monday, March 11th, 2024

With more vintage Patreon commentary, lol.

and they’re even on time!

  • Nick asked for a Moogle and here it is
  • This odd little abstract has some space-ish echoes in it. And purple! (sold)
  • Jefferson asked for pumpkin spice soccer, so this one’s his fault entirely (sold)
  • A random bonus nebula (sold)
  • This DMB quote is always a good reminder
  • Lickitung is here to help me troll Corinne, sorry not sorry
  • Eric asked for board game night, and got an homage to our old game store (sold)
  • SaraBeth wanted cake! And since I have no idea what anyone’s fave colors are, it’s purple

GPS

GPS, 6″x4″ watercolor on black paper

If you’re not looking for murder, perhaps some direction will do.

This is a GPS satellite, painted for a calendar cover to represent both technology and direction needed in 2021. The sunrise is just glinting over the curve of the earth in the background, a reminder that the sun continues to rise, and the atmosphere that we breathe is the thinnest of layers between us and the void.

It’s painted in metallic and opaque watercolors on black paper, so the sky is an even, velvety charcoal studded with distant stars.

GPS, detail, by Amy Crook

Above, you can see the gold of dawn just starting to glint over the Earth’s horizon. Below, the whole of space is laid out in a frame, just waiting to go to its forever home.

April Patreon Sketches

Wednesday, June 10th, 2020

I continue to be not dead yet! Things are a bit mad here, and somehow I’ve managed to go over my commissions limit again without meaning to, which means the queue is firmly closed with two people on the waiting list right now. That said, Patreon supporters continue to get their sketches! And someday I’ll have three seconds to put together a sale of all these little ACEOs I have lying around that were either for someone who doesn’t get to keep their card, or just random doodles I did while avoiding the actual requests.

ACEO sketch cards by Amy Crook

  • Mal modeled “frolic” for Andria but apparently disapproved of the result
  • Deinvati asked for Cavill and got a leonine Geralt
  • the silver and black abstract was just my inner goth playing around
  • and Rebecca asked for “space” and got a whole galaxy

ACEO sketch cards by Amy Crook

  • Kim asked for an itchy hedgehog and got this silly thing
  • Jeff wanted Captain Christopher Pike and I liked his giant grey bouffant
  • Grace asked for a rainbow & is a Virgo, so she got the constellation hiding in this textured rainbow-flag-ish bit of canvas paper
  • sekrit patron Rey asked for FREEDOM! in reference to finally leaving his terrible contract job, and I was late but it’s very shiny
  • sekrit patron Amber asked for Goosfraba and then had to explain it, lol

ACEO sketch cards by Amy Crook

  • Eric asked for “not so sekrit” now that he’s an official patron, and got spideybutt
  • Corinne asked for Raccoon (her cat), and after sending me 17 pics I ended up using one out of my txts from 2 months ago heh

Jealous? Get your own next month!

Patreon sketches for December 2019 requests

Thursday, January 30th, 2020

I’ve decided to stick with my new standard size for Patreon sketches from now on, so everyone gets a standard ACEO (artist card, edition original) aka trading card size piece of art when they make a request. Patrons also get to see exclusive photos, including cat pics, works in progress, and other such shenanigans. Plus, they get the warm feeling of contentment that they support the arts every month!

I’ve also been doing some figure sketch practice, so expect to see more actual people at some point! I’m pretty happy with how the sketches are coming out, even if I haven’t done a ton of them yet.

My commissions queue is full, so I’m working hard on clearing the decks so I can open them up again, as well as finally editing my newest book (it’s so close to done omg), and finishing up some other long-overdue projects. I don’t think it’s possible to feel caught up anymore, but I have hopes that someday I’ll have space to breathe and take on new work!

In the meantime, the January requests post is still open, if you want to join us on Patreon!
