5 sketch cards by Amy Crook
From top left:
- Eric asked for Peanut m&m as an Airbender and, well. Yeah. That’s a thing I’ve drawn now.
- Roxanne asked for this quote, which got a little shiny visual along with the word art.
- Kim asked for winter socks, and got bats ^^v^^
- Amy B prompted “peacock” and got an abstract. It’s shiny!
- And Jeff asked for “missing bff” which I made both silly and sad, like I do.
This finishes off January for me, which makes me briefly all caught up on sketches! Slowly, slowly, finding a new balance.

Kawaii Dead Yet (with Treasure Hull)

Kawaii Dead Yet by Amy Crook and Treasure Hull
In the Before Times, I gave the central postcard to Treasure Hull with some of the art you see already done on it, and asked if they’d be interested in continuing it as a collaboration. It’s taken a long time, but they finally mailed it back to me, and it’s amazing!
They pasted the smaller postcard onto a larger piece of paper and turned it into this surrealist kitty, mixing my soft, dreamy watercolors with their bright, trippy pen-and-ink details. There’s even stars cut out of the paper and taken from elsewhere and stuck onto this piece!
The original’s going in my personal collection, but I thought I’d share it here for you all to enjoy.

Chickadee

Chickadee, 6″x6″ watercolor on paper
I’ve finally managed to mail my Mom her Mother’s Day gift this year, belated of course because time is meaningless in 2020, so now you can all see what she got!
She loves paintings of birds, and so I decided to do something fun for me with this orb-shaped, fluffed-up little winter chickadee. It’s got a lot of very pale, subtle shades, from the winter blue sky to the cream underbelly, but my old scanner did its best.
This little borb is a bit cranky about something, perhaps the cold — it’s certainly puffed up enough to keep warm!

Dreamlands 3

Dreamlands 3, 7″x5″ watercolor on paper
Another piece that’s been in my Work in Progress pile for an embarrassingly long time, I took this city away from reality immediately and never brought it back.
From Mondrian to fungus, the buildings and their washed-out colors spring from a number of sources, including the usual Gherkin-inspired glass edifice.
I couldn’t tell you who or what lives here, perhaps somewhere close to Ulthar or well beyond the cursed plains of Leng. But you could probably tell your own stories about it, if you tried.
Dreamlands 3, detail, by Amy Crook
Above, you can see the play of dim color on the buildings and in the sky. Below, it’s been framed, like a peek through a looking glass into another world.

Everything is late and slow right now, please be kind to your artist! All of these got posted publicly to my Patreon when they were finished, and were drawn/painted by request of my lovely supporters there. Consider joining up as a supporter if you have a few dollars a month to spare!

- Rebecca was wondering what Bucky was up to, so I put him in a coffee shop AU. This IS his customer service face, tyvm.
- Eric asked for a MerMay Cloud Strife, and yeah, I dunno. Emo boy is emo.

- PG asked for a porcupine, and got this fellow and his bad hair day.
- Deinvati asked for Shark and knew exactly what she was gonna get. It’s DC canon now, don’t blame me. It’s naughty, so click to see a less-censored version. Mom, don’t look! XD Uncensored version linked here with more, uh, related art.
- Andria asked for dark purple lisianthus, and got some floofy abstract flowers.
- Grace asked for Escape and I’m afraid I can never hear that word and not think of Dory. Esss-cahp-ay!
Thanks once again to all my wonderful supporters, who keep me in tea and paint and cat food! June’s very late sketches coming soon to an internet near you.
